Chili with Red Pepper Paste

 3 tbsp Vegetable oil
 1 Large onionChopped
 2 tbsp Ziyad Brand Red Pepper PasteMild or hot
 2 tsp Ziyad Brand Ground Cumin
 2 tsp Ziyad Brand Seven Spice Blend
 1 tsp Ziyad Brand Chili Flakes
 2 lbs Ground beef
 1 Bay leaf
 Salt and freshly ground pepper
 2 15 oz Cans of kidney beans
 1 28 oz Can of crushed tomatoes
 1 Red bell pepperChopped
 Garnish with Ziyad Brand Yogurt, chopped onions, cheddar cheese, jalapeƱos and a sprinkling of cilantro

Heat the oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add the onion and bell pepper and cook, stirring, until softened, 5 to 7 minutes. Add the red pepper paste and spices. Cook, stirring for a minute.


Add the beef, salt and a few grinds of pepper and continue to cook, stirring until no longer pink, 3 to 4 minutes. Add the beans, tomatoes, 1 cup of water or adjust to the consistency you like. Bring to a simmer and cook, lower the heat and stir occasionally, until thickened, 35 to 45 minutes. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper.


Garnish with your favorite toppings.
