INGREDIENTS

  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 large fresh tomatoes, diced

  • 1 tbsp Ziyad Brand Red Pepper Paste

  • 1/2 tsp Ziyad Brand ground cumin

  • Salt & black pepper to taste

  • 2 cans (15 oz each) Ziyad Brand white kidney beans, drained and rinsed

  • 1/2 cup water or chicken broth

  • Optional: 1 fresh chili

A cozy, flavor-packed baked bean dish made with Ziyad white kidney beans and Middle Eastern spices. Great as a side, with warm pita, or as part of a hearty vegetarian plate.

Directions

Step 1: Sauté aromatics

In a large skillet or saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the onions and cook until soft and golden, about 5–7 minutes. Stir in the garlic and cook for another minute.

Step 2: Build the base

Add diced tomatoes and cook for 5–7 minutes, until the tomatoes break down. Stir in the red pepper paste, chili if using, cumin, and coriander. Cook for 2 minutes to allow the spices to bloom. Preheat oven to 350

Step 3: Add beans

Stir in the white kidney beans and water (or broth). Season with salt and pepper. Bake in 350 oven uncovered for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened and flavorful.

Step 4: Serve

Enjoy warm as a side dish to BBQ meats, spread on crusty bread, or with a scoop of rice. Garnish with cilantro.
