INGREDIENTS

  • 1 package Ziyad Brand Fillo dough, defrosted
  • 1 cup Ziyad Brand Ghee, melted
  • 2 eggs
  • 1.5 cups sugar, divided
  • 1 can Ziyad Brand Ashta
  • 1 cup milk
  • 4 teaspoons Ziyad Brand Rose Water, divided

  • 1/4 cup Ziyad Brand Chopped Pistachios

  • 1 recipe simple syrup

The viral sweet fillo dough crinkle—crispy on the outside, creamy inside with Ziyad Ashta. Perfect for dessert, tea time, or anytime cravings.

Directions

Step 1:

Preheat the oven to 350 °.

Step 2:

Crinkle two sheets of dough at a time and place them into a baking dish. Bake them for 10 minutes.

Step 3:

Take out of the oven and pour over the melted Ghee. Put it back in the oven and bake for 10 more minutes.

Step 4: 

In the meantime, prepare the custard. In a bowl whisk the Ashta, eggs, milk, half a cup of sugar and add one teaspoon of rose water.

Step 5:

Pour the custard filling over the baked fillo. Put back in the oven and bake for 35-45 minutes until the custard is completely set.

Step 6:

While the custard bakes, prepare the simple syrup.

Mix the remaining one cup of sugar and one cup of water and bring it to boil 5-7 minutes until slightly thickened. Add the remaining 2 teaspoons of rose water.

Step 7:

Take the fillo crinkle out of the oven and pour the syrup all over evenly. Garnish with chopped pistachios and serve.
