Yields1 Serving
Tart Base
240 g Ziyad Brand Kataifi Shredded Dough
Saffron Cardamom Custard
 2 cups Whole milk
cup SugarAdd more or less according to taste.
3 tbsp Ready Ziyad Brand Powdered Custard If not available you can substitute it with 1 tbsp of cornstarch for each cup of milk.
½ tsp Ziyad Brand Cardamom Powder
 3 Strands of saffron
Topping
 Ziyad Brand Shredded Coconut
Ziyad Brand Crushed or Slivered Pistachios
1

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F then start cutting your kataifi dough(This step is easier when done while the dough is still frozen).

2

Pour the melted butter or ghee on the dough and mix it well between your hands to allow the dough to absorb all the butter.

3

Now place the dough in a tart pan or the desired oven safe pan. Pack the dough tightly on the pan making sure there are no gaps and form a 1/2-inch-thick base.

4

Bake your kunafa tart base for 30 mins or until golden brown.

5

Meanwhile, prepare your custard.

6

Mix the milk, custard, sugar, cardamom, and saffron until everything is combined. Now cook on medium high heat and stir continuously until the custard thickens (don’t allow the custard to thicken too much).

7

Strain(optional) and set aside.

8

Pour your custard on top of your cooked Kunafa tart base. Let it cool then decorate with Ziyad dates, pistachios, and coconut. Refrigerate and enjoy!
