  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • ½ tsp salt

For the Spiced Meat Topping:

  • ½ lb ground lamb or beef
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 1 jalapeño deseeded & diced (optional)
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tomato, finely diced
  • 1 tsp Ziyad Brand 7 Spice Blend
  • ½ tsp Ziyad Brand Paprika
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp Ziyad Brand Pine Nuts
  • Fresh parsley & a drizzle of sultan olive oil for serving

Directions

Step 1: Prepare the Eggplant Base

  1. In a bowl, mix Ziyad Brand Roasted Eggplant with yogurt, tahini, garlic, lemon juice, and salt until smooth.
  2. Spread the mixture onto a serving plate.

Step 2: Cook the Spiced Meat

  1. Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat.
  2. Sauté onions and jalapeño (if using) until soft, then add garlic and ground meat. Add salt and spices.
  3. Cook until browned.
  4. Stir in tomatoes, Simmer for 5 minutes until thickened.

Step 3: Assemble & Serve

  1. Spoon the warm meat mixture over the eggplant base.
  2. Garnish with pine nuts, parsley, chopped tomatoes if you wish and a drizzle of olive oil.
  3. Serve with warm pita bread and enjoy!
